Wedgwood Joins “Race to Kindness” Initiative for Mental Health Awareness Month in Hopes to Reach 1 Millions Acts of Kindness
Wedgwood Joins “Race to Kindness” Initiative for Mental Health Awareness Month
In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Wedgwood Christian Services is partnering with local community leader Maranda and 2021 Time Magazine ‘Kid of the Year’ Orion Jean to support a powerful initiative: Race to Kindness.
Originally launched by Orion Jean, author, speaker, philanthropist, and TIME Magazine’s 2021 ‘Kid of the Year’, Race to Kindness is a nationwide movement encouraging people to complete and share simple acts of kindness. The goal is to reach 1 million acts of kindness and remind communities that small moments of care can create meaningful impact.
As of May 1, the campaign has already recorded 80,949 acts of kindness, and that number continues to grow.
This month, Wedgwood and Maranda are inviting our community to help push that number forward.
“We are asking you, and our entire community, to join the race to kindness and gather 1 million people recording their random acts of kindness.” — Maranda
How to Get Involved
Getting involved is simple:
- Do a random act of kindness, big or small
- Share it at Race to Kindness
Whether it’s checking in on a friend, helping a neighbor, or offering encouragement, every act matters.
Why Kindness Matters
At Wedgwood, we see every day how connection, compassion, and support can change the trajectory of someone’s life, especially for children and families navigating mental and behavioral health challenges.
Kindness is not just a nice idea. It is a powerful way to build stronger, healthier communities.
This initiative aligns closely with our mission to bring hope, healing, and restoration to those we serve.
Join the Race
Mental Health Awareness Month is a reminder that no one should walk through life alone. Acts of kindness, no matter how small, can help someone feel seen, valued, and supported.
