Wedgwood Christian Services’ Autism Center for Child Development provides comprehensive early intensive behavioral intervention (EIBI), focused based intervention, and social skills groups for children with autism spectrum disorders.

Wedgwood offers a unique continuum of care for children, teens, families, and adults. From the support of outpatient counseling to more specialized and intensive programs to meet the needs of a family coping with a crisis or trauma, our dedicated clinicians have the expertise and skills to offer compassionate and effective treatment. As part of our goal to offer integrated care, psychiatric services are also available.

Wedgwood’s Employment Training Program (ETP) is an optional program for teens in Wedgwood’s Residential Program, as well as the Grand Rapids community, to gain valuable life and job skills. Student employees work for community clients offering services such as car detailing, landscaping and lawn services, upholstery, and building wood shop products.

Wedgwood’s Manasseh Project is an outreach ministry of Wedgwood Christian Services that is dedicated to ending the sexual exploitation of young men and women in West Michigan and surrounding areas; through community and professional education, collaboration advocacy and treatment to individuals who have experienced sexual and commercial exploitation.

The Positive Youth Development (PYD) and Prevention Services are part of Wedgwood Christian Services’ comprehensive approach to behavioral health. The mission of Wedgwood’s PYD programs is to encourage broad public acceptance and support of the avoidance of risky behaviors, including sexual activity, alcohol, tobacco and other drug use among youth.

There may be times in a child’s or teen’s life when daily activities and relationships become too difficult to manage, sometimes because of trauma experienced, sometimes due to mental health issues, sometimes due to cognitive processing difficulties, sometimes due to the pull of substance use.

 

Residential treatment allows youth to focus on understanding themselves and making life changes that haven’t previously been possible. Intensive intervention provided by staff on a 24-hour basis can succeed when other options have failed.

 

Youth at Wedgwood will explore the emotions behind their behaviors, address their impulses by learning new coping skills, and learn about healthy choices. They will receive continuous support and guidance from trained and qualified staff. There is an emphasis on grace-based treatment, showing kindness and compassion while training, guiding,
and directing.

Our substance use disorder services provide an atmosphere of support for adults and teens to examine the results of their substance use. The primary goal is to help individuals take the next step in their recovery. Motivational interviewing is a major component in the earlier stages of treatment. Later stages of treatment focus on creating a new lifestyle, coping with triggers and urges, and maintaining a strong commitment to recovery.

Residential Treatment Homes

Our unique programs provide children and teens a safe place to live and grow with the specialized treatment they need.

Audere

Our Transitional Living Program. This program fills a crucial gap in the continuum of care for teens completing residential treatment who still need support before moving into independent living, foster care, or reuniting with family. Serves ages 15-18.

Antonini - Crossroads

Serves lower cognitive functioning adolescent males (ages 12-15) with histories of abuse/neglect and sexual behavior issues.

Boelkins

Serves adolescents (ages 10-16) who have been victims of abuse/ neglect, or have histories of mental health or behavioral issues. During their placements, clients typically learn the skills they need to live within a family unit.

Cook Claus

Serves adolescent females (ages 13-18) who have been victims of human trafficking, commercial exploitation, or sexual abuse.

Nuevo Amanecer

Serves males who are unaccompanied minors (ages 13-17) without an identified adult sponsor. This program focuses on education, communication, and teaching transferable daily living skills. Spanish speaking candidates are encouraged to apply.

Riebel

Serves adolescent females (ages 13-18) who have been victims of abuse/neglect or have histories of mental health issues or have involvement in the criminal justice system.

VanderArk "A" & "B"

Serves adolescents (ages 13-18) with developmental disabilities who are verbal or non-verbal and lower functioning cognitively, socially, and behaviorally. It also serves individuals on the autism spectrum and focuses their treatment on functional communication and daily living skills by using applied behavior analysis (ABA therapy). This home has both a female and male side to the program.

VanAndel - Summit

Serves adolescents (ages 12-18) with histories of substance abuse. This program uses the 12-step recovery method.

Zondervan

Serves adolescent males (ages 14-18) who have been victims of abuse/neglect, or have histories of mental health issues, or involvement in the criminal justice system.
