Residential Treatment

All of Wedgwood’s residential programs include 24-hour care and individualized professional treatment for children and adolescents within a caring, Christian environment. Our comprehensive services include individual and family therapy, specialized education services, group therapy and activity therapy. Classes are held to teach employment and adult living skills. Families are encouraged to actively participate in treatment and other program activities. Nursing and psychiatric services are available as needed.

Secure, Campus-based Residential Program. Secure treatment settings for children and adolescents who have significant emotional, behavioral and substance abuse needs. The structured treatment program includes a level system, along with individualized treatment interventions and programming, including individual, family, group, and activity therapies.

Length of stay: 6-12 months
Schooling: Typically on-campus

Crossroads Program for Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems. Intensive treatment for adolescent males with sexual behavior problems, adjudicated and non-adjudicated. There is a strong peer accountability model, including 3-5 hours of group therapy per week, along with individual and family therapy.

Length of stay: 12 - 18 months (average)
Schooling: Typically on-campus

Crossroads Accelerated Treatment Services. Short term residential services leading to community based placement in less than a year. The accelerated service is flexible, depending on the treatment needed. One therapist focuses on the residential services, while a second therapish focuses on community re-integration.

Length of stay: 1-2 months. Placement in group within 2 months (average)
Schooling: Typically on-campus while in residence.

Family Empowerment Program. Intensive treatment focusing on family engagement, participation and empowerment. Family members or other caretakers participate in scheduled meetings, therapy sessions, family support groups, family camps, and other activities.

Length of stay: 3 months (average)
Schooling: Community or on-campus

Summit Program for Chemically Dependent Youth. A treatment program for adolescents who are chemically-dependent. A group therapy model is used along with supportive individual and family therapy. There is a heavy emphasis on peer accountability. Involvement with Alcoholics Anonymous is expected.

Length of stay: Varies from 1-12 months
Schooling: Typically on-campus

Open, Community-based Residential Programs. These programs help youth develop positive patterns of community involvement while living in a structured residential treatment facility. Basic competencies are taught including community school participation, social interaction skills, and independent living and employment skills.

Length of stay: 9-12 months
Schooling: Community

Crisis Residential Services. Provided to clients referred by area Community Mental Health agencies as a diversion or early release option from psychiatric hospitalization. Wedgwood’s goals are to provide a safe and stable placement for a child in crisis, to help to resolve immediate family conflicts and stabilize family relationships such that a client can be returned home, to accomplish these goals in the shortest possible time, and to make this service available on a 24-hour/7-day per week basis

Length of stay: Usually one to five days, but may continue for as long as needed.
Schooling: Not typically provided, except through special arrangements.

Residential Respite Program. This program provides brief removal of a client from a stressful situation to assist families, contracting agencies and treatment programs in maintaining less restrictive placements. An initial treatment plan is developed to provide a therapeutic experience for each client, and a brief separation provides opportunity for assessment and renewal of personal resources.

Length of stay: Usually three to five days, but may continue for as long as needed.
Schooling: Variable

Shelter Care. Safe and temporary shelter care services in partnership with other local community agencies that contract with the Family Independence Agency. For youth in extreme need or at significant risk and cannot be maintained in a less secure setting. Wedgwood provides access to care on a 24-hour per day, 7-day per week basis, and coordinates needed assessment and treatment services with staff of the referring agency. Youth remain while awaiting placement in other appropriate settings.

Length of stay: Typically 1–30 days, but may continue for as long as needed
Schooling: On-campus
Foster Care
