Outpatient Services for Minors: Relapse Prevention Group: This group is designed for adolescents who have had previous substance abuse treatment, are not currently using substances, are motivated to maintain sobriety and want support in their recovery process. This group meets one hour per week at the Wedgwood Downtown site at Grace CRC (Insurance or Medicaid). Substance Abuse Education Classes: In this e ducation-based intervention, adolescent clients learn about the social, physical and emotional effects of substances. Meets for one hour per week, total sessions vary from 4-7 sessions. Can be provided at Wedgwood or on-site where youth are gathered (such as in-school or after-school groups if there are four students/clients) (Funded by Medicaid). Intensive Outpatient [IOP] for Adolescents with Substance Abuse Issues: For adolescents identified as currently having a substance abuse concern. Groups meet three times per week, for three hours per session. The average number of sessions is 12 to 15 depending on insurance. The group is designed for substance abuse treatment, not prevention or education. However, there are elements of drug education included throughout various experiential exercises and discussion times. There are currently two group sites, one at Wedgwood’s Cutlerville Campus, and one conveniently located in downtown Grand Rapids at Grace CRC on Buckley and Sheldon (Between Wealthy and Franklin) (Insurance or Medicaid). Individual Counseling : Clients meet one-on-one with a skilled clinician to explore issues co-existing with and contributing to substance abuse, delinquent behavior and/or mental health concerns (e.g. depression, anger, anxiety, interpersonal conflicts, poor self-esteem, anger management, etc.) This service is provided at the Wedgwood Counseling Center in Cutlerville (Insurance or Medicaid). Family Counseling: Clients and one or more family members meet to identify and work on substance abuse issues in a family setting. Counseling may also focus on improving communication and conflict resolution skills, and developing healthy boundaries. Family sessions can be held weekly or monthly. Family counseling is offered at the Cutlerville Campus (Insurance or Medicaid). Assertive Adolescent & Family Treatment: AAFT is a program focusing on 12 to 15 year old adolescents who are experiencing problems with truancy and substance use. The program runs for 8 to 14 weeks, with an outpatient therapist meeting with the youth in the community. As part of this program we also offer a family night, typically to focus on communication or problem solving skills. Our goal is to reduce substance use and truancy.
