Faith in our success

We don't push our beliefs on anyone, but we do believe our faith has a lot to do with the energy and commitment that makes us the last best hope for some of the most challenging cases.

Our Services: Transforming
Employment Training Program

Among Michigan’s residential programs for youth, Wedgwood is one of the few offering an Employment Training Program (ETP). This program receives no public funding and is supported 100% by donations to the Children's Hope Annual Fund. We teach young people how to succeed through involvement in real-life work environments ranging from yard maintenance, upholstery services, furniture making, cleaning services, small repairs and more.

Involvement in the Employment Training Program gives them real job hunting experience, including how to fill out an application and how to handle an interview with confidence. After being hired for a particular job, they are given opportunities to advance to higher levels as they learn more skills, develop consistent work habits and take on increased responsibilities.

ETP prepares youth for eventual employment in the community by teaching them the  important concepts of

  • teamwork
  • respect for authority
  • punctuality
  • doing quality work

They also learn to interact with customers in the community, which gives them experience with people they might not otherwise encounter.

Through this valuable training program, Wedgwood’s youth have many opportunities to put their new skills into practice and to learn more about themselves before venturing out into the community for employment. For over 20 years, hundreds of youth have benefitted from ETP, gaining important life-lessons that build character, confidence and a renewed hope that they can contribute positively to society.

Area residents who use ETP’s services are not only getting a good value, they are also making a difference in the lives of youth who are on the road to financial independence.

Wedgwood's Employment Training Program Makes A Difference!

Over the past several months, we saw Michael transform into a young man who sees a better future for himself.

He’s doing well in school and holds a steady job off-campus after working through our Employment Training Program. He began his job as a temporary employee and then took steps on his own to get hired as a regular part-timer.

Michael reached out to members of his family and we’ve worked with them to strengthen his support system.  We’ll soon be sending Michael on as a young man with the potential to lead a fulfilling and successful life.
