Our Services: Core

CORE SERVICES fall into three main categories:

Community Services

  • PREVENTION promotes healthy choices by targeting tenn pregnancy, STDs, and drug and alcohol use.
  • OUTPATIENT COUNSELING is available to help adults, teens, children and families with life changes or mental health concerns.
  • SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES offer a range of services from prevention to intensive treatment to help youth with alcohol abuse and drug addiction.
  • IN-HOME SERVICES targets the prevention of abuse, neglect and out-of-home placement through counseling for children and families undergoing relational, emotional, and substance abuse crises.
  • FOSTER CARE offers placement and counseling for emotionally impaired youth due to abuse and neglect. Wedgwood’s foster care program seeks to provide alternatives to residential treatment and assists clients after they have received residential services.

Educational Services

  • LIGHTHOUSE ACADEMY is an on-campus charter school that serves Wedgwood’s residential clients. Lighthouse also offers expelled and at-risk students from the community the opportunity to finish their high school education.
  • WEDGWOOD INSTITUTE provides quality opportunities for Lifelong Learning to Wedgwood employees, youth and child-care workers, clinical professionals, administrators, educators and family members.  The Institute offers a diverse range of topics designed to strengthen the quality of our response to troubled youth and families.
  • HOPE ACADEMY is a new charter school opening in Grand Rapids in the fall of 2011. Dedicated to providing renewed hope, success in school and a positive learning experience, Hope Academy will serve students grades K-12.

Residential Treatment Services

  • 10 HOMES provide 24-hour care and intensive
    counseling for the worst cases of abuse and neglect.  Wedgwood’s residential homes and group homes meet the needs of boys ages 8-17 and girls ages 11-17.
  • INDEPENDENT LIVING prepares teens to function and live on their own as they transition from residential and foster care.

  • SPECIALTY PROGRAMS focus on substance abuse and sexual behavior problems.
