In our residential programs for emotionally impaired youth, the Bachelor’s Level intern will receive hands-on experience in the daily care and counsel of youth and their families. The student will work alongside Youth Treatment Specialists who utilize a wide variety of acquired professional intervention techniques as they work with at-risk youth. The Master’s Level intern in the residential setting will work closely with a Master’s Level Therapist in providing individual, family and group therapy to our clients. The student will be introduced to the social welfare system and the provision of services to emotionally impaired youth on a local, county and state level.
Our Wellness Services provide internship experiences designed for students in the therapeutic recreation field. In these internships, students gain firsthand knowledge in the use of activities as therapeutic tools in residential treatment.
Wedgwood Christian Services has a variety of Prevention programs serving Kent County youth, ages 7 to 18. Our prevention efforts help them make healthy choices in abstaining from sex, alcohol, tobacco and drugs.
Wedgwood currently has a need for a talented individual to support its Advancement Department through the use of graphic design, marketing, and communications.
On a limited basis, Wedgwood can also provide internship experiences in the area of social work administration and program evaluation. Students in these internships gain practical experience in social work research and outcome evaluation techniques. Periodically, additional opportunities may be available in special projects such as grant work and community organization.
