Encouraging Charitable Legacies
Most of us are familiar with the term stewardship and how the Bible suggests that we be good stewards of the gifts God provides. If you have a desire to plan for a legacy of the assets God has entrusted to you through a gift to the Wedgwood Foundation, a number of planned giving opportunities are available, such as:
- Will or trust bequests
- Appreciated Investments
- Charitable Gift Annuity
- Charitable Remainder Trust
- Charitable Lead Trust
- Life Estate Agreement
- Life Insurance
- Retirement Plan gifts
We can work with you and your financial advisor to set-up a bequest or other planned gift that meets your giving goals and financial situation. Please contact Gary Raterink at 616.831.5623 if we can help you explore options that benefit God’s work as part of Wedgwood’s mission of Transforming Lives. Or, the professionals at Barnabas Foundation and National Christian Foundation of West Michigan can also assist you in making decisions regarding your estate planning.
To help Wedgwood Christian Services build a lasting base of future support, the Wedgwood Foundation was established in 1990 as a separate legal entity to encourage, receive, and manage gifts and bequests of cash, securities, property, and life insurance policies. In addition, the Foundation issues income-generating Charitable Gift Annuities and Charitable Remainder Trusts. All of the charitable opportunities are for the sole benefit of Wedgwood Christian Services thus ensuring charitable gift deductions to donors. By making a planned gift to the Wedgwood Foundation, donors will help high-risk children well beyond their lifetime.
Gifts to the Foundation are permanently held in trust and carefully invested. Over the past 20 years approximately $1,500,000 has been dispersed to the ministry of Wedgwood, helping to provide transforming services to abused and high-risk children. Because the principal is carefully invested for growth, and only income earnings from these investments - never the principal – are used, a gift to the Foundation truly is a gift that keeps giving. In this way, an individual’s resources can benefit children and families in need long after the donor has entered God’s eternal Kingdom. A legacy gift to the Wedgwood Foundation is a generous means to be a good steward of the assets God has entrusted to you.
The Wedgwood Foundation Legacy Society is open to anyone who is passionate about helping the at-risk and hurting youth served by Wedgwood Christian Services now and in the future, and has informed us of their commitment to do this through an estate gift.
Members of the Wedgwood Foundation Legacy Society are invited to attend an annual reception held in their honor as a means to express our thanks. Members are also offered opportunities to see our work first hand, thus enabling them to see how gifts given in the future will help the most troubled and vulnerable children in our community succeed now and for years to come.
We do not ask for the value of your planned gift, as that is a personal matter. However, we would like to know that you have made a decision and commitment to help hurting youth and families by including Wedgwood in your will or estate plan.
